Samsung and Bosch both publish steps for cleaning a glass electric or induction cooktop. Samsung uses a glass cooktop cleaner or, for mineral bubbles and similar stains, baking soda and vinegar. Bosch uses its own glass cooktop cleaner and a glass scraper held at a low angle for burnt residue. Check your manual for your model. Both say to let the cooktop cool first, with one exception Samsung gives for melted sugar.
Steps, by source
Samsung: cleaner or baking soda and vinegar
Samsung's cleaning methods for an electric or induction glass cooktop, using glass cooktop cleaner or baking soda and vinegar. Source: Samsung: Clean a glass electric cooktop.
- Turn off the cooktop and wait until it has cooled down.
- Choose a method: for most stains, a glass cooktop cleaner such as Cerama Bryte and Weiman, or both (Cerama Bryte to clean, Weiman to polish after); or, for certain stains such as mineral bubbles, baking soda and vinegar.
- Spread your cleaner or baking soda over the affected area. If using baking soda, spray it with vinegar from a spray bottle.
- For the baking soda and vinegar method, soak a towel in soapy water, wring it out, and place it over the cooktop. If using glass cleaner, skip this step or soak the towel in glass cleaner instead.
- Remove the soaking towel (if used) and wipe the surface with a clean, dry towel or cloth, rubbing forcefully at stains if needed.
- If the surface is heavily soiled, use a glass-cleaning blade scraper with a fresh, sharp blade with even edges. If the stain still remains, try baking soda and vinegar instead.
What the source lists: Glass cooktop cleaner such as Cerama Bryte and Weiman (or baking soda and vinegar); Spray bottle (for the vinegar); Towel; Clean, dry towel or cloth; Glass-cleaning blade scraper (for heavily soiled surfaces).
From the source. Melted sugar or chocolate spills are an exception and should be removed immediately, even while the cooktop is still hot.
From the source. Always use caution when cleaning sugary messes because the cooktop will still be hot.
From the source. Make sure you always use a fresh blade to prevent scratching the glass, and check that the blade is sharp with even edges.
